Melt Zone is the volume fraction of the melt in each mesh element. It is an indicator of the melt region in the filling process, provided normally in molding simulation of transfer type and compression type. The value of the enclosed melt region is one. The value between zero and one indicates the boundary of the melt front. From the melt zone result one can:

Examine the filling pattern during molding

Check the region filled and unfilled repeatedly

Check the region jetting has occurred

Check the region plunger retraction has occurred

Melt Zone result is only provided to replace regular Melt Front result for molding type with more complex moving boundary of melt flow, such as Compression type process and Core-back simulation.

Note: The values between 0 and 1 are calculated based on element size. Therefore, it can be sensitive to mesh resolution but will not affects the melt front prediction accuracy.
